Richmond Home

Initiatives

UR Downtown has provided students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members a shared learning environment and platform for engaging together in the heart of a diverse metropolitan area.

While we are ending our lease at 626 E. Broad Street, UR Downtown initiatives will continue with all staff working from offices on campus.

  • Community-Engaged Learning initiatives, supported by the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement, enable collaboration among faculty, students, and community members in order to further learning and build the capacity of all stakeholders.
  • The Harry L. Carrico Center for Pro Bono & Public Service, a program of the School of Law, connects the skills and talents of law students with the Greater Richmond community and a network of regional and national pro bono programs.

  • Partners in the Arts, an educational program of the School of Professional & Continuing Studies, serves K–12 teachers in the Richmond area by providing arts integration training and by funding projects that use the arts to teach across the K–12 curriculum.

  • Volunteer Income Tax Assistance engages University of Richmond students with the United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg's Tax Assistance Program and provides free tax preparation for qualifying individuals and families.

  • In-House Clinics of the School of Law, the Children’s Defense Clinic and the Jeanette Lipman Family Law Clinic, meet with clients at UR Downtown and represent them in a wide variety of matters.
  • URGOV, managed by student coordinators, provides up-to-date information about Richmond city government.
