The Mobile Studio
In February 2015, the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) and UR Downtown hosted visiting artists Jocelyn Zanzot and Dan Neil, the co-directors of Mobile Studio, a traveling, interdisciplinary art and design studio that promotes learning and civic engagement through place-based interactions.
While in Richmond, the Mobile Studio duo collaborated with the CCE, UR Downtown, and students in the American Studies course, “Public Art and Social Change in the River City,” to build a new mobile studio for our community. Over the course of a week, the mobile studio then served as a vehicle for community conversations about the James River and participatory design across Richmond.
University of Richmond faculty, staff, and students and members of the greater Richmond community are invited to submit proposals for the ongoing use of our mobile studio, currently housed at UR Downtown. This unique resource is intended to bring people together for co-creative activities that engage multiple audiences across lines of difference in a public space.
Please submit a project proposal form if you’re interested in using the mobile studio.
