Richmond Comes Together: Then and Now
March 1 - September 13, 2013
Richmond non-profits, past and present, have worked to bring about change, creating a culture of community outreach within our community. This exhibition features a sampling of the many local and national organizations that offer social services and advocate for members of the Richmond community. For each organization, there is a photograph from the past, drawn from the collection of the Valentine Richmond History Center, and one for the present, shared with us by each area non-profit. Focusing on a wide range of issues, these organizations are part of the fabric of our city, making an impact on the lives of countless individuals.
The historic images throughout our gallery were first represented in an exhibition at the Valentine Richmond History Center, Richmond Comes Together: Images of Community Outreach, in 2012.
This exhibition was organized by Paige Schaefer, ’15, art history major and student coordinator with the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement.
