A studio assistant position for Ray Kass, Professor Emeritus of Art at Virginia Tech, internationally recognized painter, and founder of Mount Lake Workshop, launched Tom Condon’s artistic career. As a graduate student at Virginia Commonwealth University, photographer Garry Schneider was equally influential. Schneider, now a Professor at Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts, demonstrated that the best teachers are still enchanted by learning. Condon brings the same mentality to his classes at the University of Richmond, where students practice basic photographic techniques, but learn to push their limits and discover art and education beyond the classroom walls.
