Summer in the City 2014

Summer in the City excursions for University of Richmond faculty and staff highlight some of our favorite downtown destinations. Participants travelling from campus may take the shuttle at 11 a.m. from Tyler Haynes Commons to UR Downtown. From UR Downtown, the group will walk to the featured destination for a brief tour at 11:30 a.m. Following the tour, lunch boxes will be provided. The shuttle will depart at 12:25 p.m. from UR Downtown and return participants to campus by about 12:45 p.m.

Summer in the City Extra with UR Involved

In honor of Juneteenth National Freedom Day, the oldest nationally celebrated emancipation commemoration, a special afternoon excursion will introduce participants to several stops along the Richmond Slave Trail, including the Reconciliation Statue, Lumpkin’s Jail, and Richmond’s African Burial Ground. Participants traveling from campus may take the 3 p.m. shuttle from Tyler Haynes Commons to 8th and Grace Streets.  Following a walking tour, there will be refreshments at UR Downtown. The shuttle will depart at 5:25 p.m. from UR Downtown and return participants to campus by about 5:45 p.m.


Parking

A parking deck is located adjacent to the building on 7th Street between Broad and Marshall Streets, and the cost is $4 per hour. Street parking, metered parking, and other parking decks are conveniently located on nearby streets.
