In conjunction with this year’s Black History Month celebration, “Intersections Within One: A World of Black Experience,” UR students, faculty, staff, and friends are invited to engage in conversation about African-American heritage through an introduction to genealogy at UR Downtown with Dr. Lauranett Lee, Curator of African American History at the Virginia Historical Society, Ana Edwards, Manager of Library Programs at the William Byrd Community House, and Donna Shumate, Adjunct Associate Professor at the School of Professional and Continuing Studies. Following the discussion, there will be a walking tour to include Lumpkin’s Jail, Richmond's African Burial Ground, and the Reconciliation Statue.
